The Burke Street Subdivision Project is part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, which provides new housing and accommodation for rural towns where key industry workers and their families are struggling to find places to live.

The fund supports employers to attract and retain workers to help stimulate economic growth and support the regions to thrive.

The subdivision at 26 Burke Street, Beaufort consists of land and construction of ten houses, subject to a wide range of conditions including landscaping, street tree provision, vehicle access, and payment of open space contributions.

Burke Street Worker Accommodation September update

Stage one of the Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation Project is underway with the first planning permit being issued. Plans for the houses have been endorsed and contracts with the two companies responsible for building the homes, Hotondo Homes and GJ Gardner, being formalised. Preparation for the first five allotments is nearly complete with recent site pegging. Construction on the first houses will start as soon as the building permits are issued.

The proposed subdivision plan for stage two of the project has been finalised. Construction of these houses will start on completion of stage one.

Other significant recent milestones include:

  • NBN application submitted
  • Powercor master plan submitted to Powercor
  • Approval to create easement for sewer on 20 Burke Street has been obtained
  • Plans for subdivision of VicTrack land has been completed
