UPDATE MAY 2026
Progress from Beggs Street through to Lawrence Street is largely complete. Works between Lawrence Street and Havelock Street are being bored to minimise impact on businesses and residents. There will be boring equipment positioned in this area and there will be some disruption to property access with some properties needing to park cars on the street while driveways are blocked.
Construction of a new sewer main along Willoby Street has begun. This will increase the capacity of the system serving Beaufort's southwest side and provide more capacity for the sewer main serving the Burke Street Housing Project.
Works have commenced with a combination of open trenching and directional boring to limit interruption of access to houses and businesses along Willoby Street.
There will be traffic management in place during the works but access for local traffic will be maintained.
Drilling will be undertaken in both directions from a location about 50 metres to the west of Lawrence Street.
There will be open trenching for about 150 metres starting east of Lawrence Street through to the park on Beggs Street. Open trenching will also occur for about 100 metres starting just past the Willoby Street gate of Beaufort Rural Hardware to the cypress pines opposite Christian’s Bus depot. The last section will be bored beneath the trees.
The works are likely to take about four weeks to complete.
