Shining a spotlight on local youth creativity, the Pyrenees 2026 Youth Art Competition is open for all secondary school-aged young people living, studying, working, or participating in activities within the Pyrenees Shire.
The competition will run from 1 July to 31 August, with five winners receiving a $200 gift card prize. Winning artworks may also be featured in Pyrenees Shire youth publications, promotional materials, social media campaigns, and community engagement activities.
This year’s theme is Good Things Grow Here – exploring the Pyrenees through the eyes and artwork of our young people and we welcome entries across a range of artistic mediums including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art, mixed media, and other visual art forms.
Entries can be of new or existing artwork completed by young people and you can enter up to five individual pieces of art in the 2026 Youth Art Competition.
Artworks will be adjudged by Pyrenees Shire Council and community representatives on:
• Creativity and originality (40%) • Artistic effort and presentation (40%) • Connection to theme (20%)
Winners will be announced via the Pyrenees Shire Council Facebook Page.
I understand that young people retain ownership of their artwork, but provide Pyrenees Shire Council with permission to professionally photograph and reproduce winning artworks for promotional and community purposes, including:
Featured in Pyrenees Shire youth publications
Used in Council promotional materials
Shared on social media and digital campaigns
Displayed at community venues, libraries, or youth events
If you are under 18 please also gain parent/guardian consent for artwork to be used according to the above list.
