Pyrenees Community Funding Program open for business

Pyrenees Shire Council’s Community Funding Program is now open for applications.

A range of grants and subsidies covering events, projects, equipment, minor capital works, business shop facade and one-off programs/activities can be accessed through the program.

Applications for grants can be made through Council’s online portal, where you will find a range of useful resources including comprehensive program guidelines, answers to frequently asked questions, and information about grant opportunities through state and federal governments.

“In the 2022/23 program, Council funded some important community projects, such as kitchen upgrades for the Beaufort RSL, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Forum delivered by Beaufort and Skipton Health Service, a new gas hot water system for Moonambel Recreation Reserve Committee, Avoca’s Community Food Panty’s Healthy Eating Initiative, and a new community connection and engagement program for the Waterloo community,” said Pyrenees Shire Mayor Ron Eason.

“Many of these programs and projects wouldn’t be able to happen without this support from Council’s funding program. We’re very pleased we can continue to provide this kind of support to our community,” said Cr Eason.

Information drop-in sessions are being held across the Shire where Council staff can help community groups with their grant application questions, including how to apply online.

“Please speak to a Council officer before applying, this will make sure you understand the eligibility criteria and give your application the best chance of being successful,” Cr Eason said.

Applications for grants and sponsorship are open until 23 October.

In addition to these annual grants, the Community Funding Program has monthly responsive grants of up to $500 to quickly assist with unexpected community need.

Responsive grants and event signage subsidies run year-round, with applications closing at 12pm on the last Friday of each month.

“We are delighted to launch the 2023/24 Community Funding Program and continue offering support to our wonderful community groups who do important work in our Shire.

Community grand drop-in information sessions will be held at:

  • Amphitheater Mechanics Institute/Hall: 20 September from 10:30am to 3:30pm
  • Avoca Information and Community Centre: 27 September from 10am to 3pm
  • Beaufort Community Resource Centre: 2 October from 10am to 12pm
  • Avoca Information and Community Centre: 11 October from 10 am to 3:30pm
  • Beaufort Community Resource Centre: 16 October from 1pm to 4pm
  • Natte Yallock Reserve Pavilion: 18 October from 10:30am to 3:30pm
