BP60 Old Beaufort Primary School Masterplan
The former Beaufort Primary School site contains open space, buildings subject to a Heritage Overlay, other buildings and former sporting courts.
The old Beaufort Primary School opened in 1864, becoming the 60th primary school opened in Victoria. It was closed in 2014 but has been extensively vandalised over the intervening years.
Funding of $800,000 for the creation of a master plan and early works was announced by the Victorian Government through Ripon MLA Martha Haylett in November 2022, with the aim of converting the site into a community hub.
Pyrenees Shire Council is assisting with the master plan creation, along with architectural consultants Public Realm Lab. Engagement on the creation of the Masterplan commenced in May 2025.
Have Your Say - Your Community Buildings
The early investigations conducted as part of this project have revealed an opportunity to review Beaufort's community assets more broadly. The purpose of this survey is to understand how Beaufort’s community assets are currently used, confirm the activities of community groups, and identify groups that may not yet have a suitable space.
We also want to hear the community’s aspirations for both the Old Beaufort Primary School site and Beaufort’s broader network of community assets.
The results of this survey and other ongoing consultation will assist in informing the masterplan outcome and support Council in making key decisions on community assets.
To get involved, click on the link below to access the survey - this survey will close 30 May 2025.
