Planning your event
If you are planning an event in Pyrenees Shire, our Events Officer is here to help. With the aim of encouraging and promoting local events and festivals. The Events Officer helps guide event organisers through the registration and compliance process to ensure you have all the right permits and permissions required.
Council encourages groups and committees to contact the Events Officer before planning starts so they can obtain important information and gain a better understanding of what is needed to run a successful event.
We recommend that you complete the (PDF, 498KB)Event Application Form(PDF, 415KB) before making contact as this is the starting point for all event registrations and listings on the Shire's websites. With the information provided we can then review your event and provide you with the information you need to ensure you have all the right permits and permissions required so you can host your event successfully and safety. Every event is unique, and your event may trigger additional planning permits such as a place of assembly or require a Place of Public Entertainment permit or a temporary structure approval.

Free publicity and marketing for your event
Planning an event in Pyrenees Shire? Take advantage of our free promotion opportunities to help boost attendance and awareness. We promote events located in the Pyrenees Shire via our Visit Pyrenees Website, Visit Pyrenees App, Facebook and Instagram. We also provide regular events newsletters to database of visitors and local businesses.
We’ve upgraded the Visit Pyrenees website to make event promotion easier and more efficient. Events listed on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) will now automatically feed into the Visit Pyrenees “What’s On” calendar and the Visit Pyrenees App. Saving you time and reducing double handling.
An ATDW event listing also boosts your visibility through broader tourism marketing channels, including Visit Victoria and Tourism Midwest Victoria. By listing once, your event can reach multiple platforms, including Visit Ballarat and Ballarat in the Know. With access to over 80 million potential visitors and 10.5 million annual users on Visit Victoria alone, it’s the easiest way to maximise exposure for your event and promote our region free of charge.

Event Signage Subsidy
Council has installed event promotion sign frames for tourism and event signs located on the road approaches into Avoca and Beaufort. The sign frames allow event organisations to promote upcoming events and tourist attractions to people entering the townships. The design and manufacturing of these signs are at the expense of the event organisation, but Council will support community groups with a one-off subsidy of $250 towards the production of reusable event sign. Full details and how to apply are available here: Event Signage Subsidy
Other Grants
Many grants are available from the state and federal governments, benevolent organisations, trusts and corporations.
To get information about grant opportunities, make sure your group is registered and keeps their contact details up to date in Pyrenees Council’s Community Directory to get direct emails on funding opportunities. Update or add your group to the directory on our website.
Other Grant opportunities can be found here.
