Beaufort - Goldfields Recreation Reserve Masterplan

Beaufort_020_LR.jpg

Beaufort is on Wathaurung, Eastern Maar Country

An important focal point for the town, the Goldfield Recreation Reserve includes Beaufort Lake, which is a popular spot for boating and fishing, a multipurpose community building, caravan park, sporting ground, netball courts and facilities. The area is also adjacent to the town’s primary and secondary schools.

The Shire’s 2017 Recreation Strategy highlighted the Masterplan as a key project to drive community use of the precinct. It will help guide future developments in a logical, well-planned way. We will be looking to engage a consultancy firm to undertake the work. Part of the work will involve feedback from the community as to what guide the direction of the Masterplan.

Beaufort Lake Foreshore is currently undergoing works to improve the amenity of the area for users, the project includes new plantings and earthworks, formalised paths, new parking spaces (including a disabled parking space), new seating and a number of nature-based play areas for children. You can read more about this project here.

The creation of a new masterplan to guide the future direction and use of the Goldfield Recreation Reserve in Beaufort and more broadly recreation in and around Beaufort.

This project will be funded by the Pyrenees Shire Council out of its own budget.
