Lexton is on Dja Dja Wurrung Country.

The Lexton Community Hub is now open for business.

The Lexton Community Hub is newly built space with a multipurpose function room, change rooms, bar, canteen, and commercial kitchen for a range of community and sporting needs to replace the current outdated facilities.

Lexton is an unsewered township, so wastewater must be treated onsite with septic systems. The size of the Community Hub triggers the need for a 5000 litre per day treatment system. Systems this size must have Environment Protection Authority (EPA) approval before installation.

Arris Water Treatment and Technology was appointed in 2021 to create a design to meet EPA standards.

Discussions between Arris and the project manager were affected by many factors, including COVID-19 in 2021, which resulted in a delay to the completion of the design specifications. The specifications have been received and are awaiting formal acceptance by the EPA.

Once the EPA has approved the septic system for the Hub, construction is expected to commence in May. The estimated cost of the wastewater treatment system is around $200,000 which is a similar cost from the original quote. The total project cost is around $3.8M.

We know the hold up with the wastewater treatment system has meant a set-back in the handover timeframe and we apologise for the delay. We are looking forward to the Hub becoming a lasting asset for the Lexton community.
