Community organisations win grants from Pyrenees Shire Council

In April, Pyrenees Shire Council awarded grants to 13 organisations for the Round 2 Community Grants 2021-22 program.

“We had a lot of applications in this round with some hard decisions to be made for organisations coming to us for funding,” Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Cr Ron Eason said.

Fifteen projects received funding from the Shire this round. Over $28,000 has been awarded in grants, providing much needed funds to local organisations to continue the great work they do in the local community.

“With lockdowns now lifted our communities are now able to be out and about, run events, volunteer, and get back to their usual business.

“It's wonderful to see our community groups coming back to us seeking this funding and getting out and running programs, events, and projects for our community again,” Cr Eason said.

Local football netball clubs and fire brigades have received funds to help with equipment purchases and to help encourage community members return to local games and volunteering.

Landsborough Country Women’s Association is planning on running a bush dance for locals, while Avoca Country Golf Bowling Club is planning bowling events for young and old.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the improvements to our community organisations, as well as seeing these events come to fruition.

“Our grants programs are such a great way for us to help our communities thrive, particularly after the events of the last few years.

“Congratulations to all the community groups receiving funding from this round,” Cr Eason said.
