A project with the Federal Government and NBN has meant 20 community facilities in the Pyrenees now have wi-fi capability. The Strengthen Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters (STAND) program aims to provide redundant communications in the event of a natural disaster.

The sites in the Pyrenees now have an NBN Satellite connection which provides free wi-fi access to the community for the next three years. The connection can be upscaled for greater use in an emergency.

Connection to the Community Wi-Fi Service is simple, look for 'community wi-fi' in your wi-fi settings on your device, connect to it (no password required), accept the terms and conditions and start browsing.
