Expression of Interest - Pyrenees Economic Task Force

If you are a forward-thinking person who would like to contribute to the Pyrenees Shire’s future economic direction, we’d like to hear from you.

Pyrenees Shire Council is about to update its Economic Development Strategy and is seeking Expressions of Interest from business community thought leaders to help Council identify priority economic development actions.

The industry representatives will form an Economic Task Force (ETF) to assist in developing an industry focused plan to unlock the potential for business growth and investment in Pyrenees Shire.

What is involved?

ETF members will attend several meetings with consultants during the strategy’s development; help inform the document’s priority actions and assist communication with other key stakeholders from the industry sector they are representing.

Meetings may be held face to face or virtually for efficient use of time.

The strategy will identify opportunities to grow the Shire’s economy with a focus on, but not exclusive to, the key propulsive sectors of agriculture, construction, manufacturing (wine), tourism and emerging sectors.

Assessment criteria

We want to hear from individuals who have:

  • A successful business history. This may be evidenced by factors such as business growth, diversification or expansion (e.g. growth in employee numbers)
  • An understanding of your industry’s broader economic drivers
  • A knowledge of economic development’s regional benefits
  • A successful history in one of the key propulsive sectors of the Pyrenees Shire economy would be desirable. These include mixed farming and/or agribusiness, construction, wine manufacturing and tourism.
  • Represented your industry at a regional or peak body level (e.g. member of the Victorian Farmers Federation, regional tourism organisation or similar)

How you can help

The new Economic Development Strategy will include an action plan for priority actions to be delivered by Council. Industry leaders appointed to the ETF will share their knowledge and experience to help identify these priorities.

  • Explain the background to your business and its measures of success
  • What do you believe are the economic drivers for success in your industry and why?
  • Which industry sector organisations have you been involved in and what role have you played within that organisation?
  • What is the best time of day to meet you?
  • Is there a particular day which suits you to attend meetings?
