Proposed road name change - Andersons Lane, Avoca

Pyrenees Shire Council is proposing to rename Andersons Lane, Snake Valley

Council is seeking to rename Anderson Lane, Avoca, between Vinoca Road and Percydale Road - Knott Lane.

The section of road shown below has a duplicate name and therefore requires renaming.

From the Geographic Naming Rules for places (2022) - Principle D indicates that the naming authority should ensure road names are not duplicated within 30km in a rural setting.

This renaming is needed because there is another Andersons Lane within 10km at Percydale. This could mean possible address duplication, causing location issues and possible delays for emergency and other services.

Analysis identified that renaming this Anderson Lane between Percydale Road and Vinoca Road would have the least impact, as there are no residences along this section and no properties that have this road name in their address.

If you do not support this name, please consider making a submission regarding a new and unique name for this section of road that reflects the history, character or environmental charms of your patch or honors someone local who served their country or community.

Submissions can be made by emailing pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au with the subject “Andersons Lane Renaming” or by post to Pyrenees Shire, 5 Lawrence Street, BEAUFORT   VIC   3373

Any proposed names need to comply with the principles set out in the Naming Rules for places (2022).

If you wish to discuss a proposal, contact the office (Ph 1300 797 363) to have a chat with councils Naming Officer.

Council will be accepting proposals up to the 11 January 2024.  If no proposals or objections are received, then Council will proceed with Knott Lane in the renaming process.
